Scripture vs Tradition. Passover, Good Friday, and the Resurrection Examined.

As Easter season approaches, many sincere Christians assume that Easter and Good Friday are biblical Christian holidays. This message asks a simple but necessary question: Is that assumption supported by Scripture, or by tradition?

This sermon does not attack the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It defends it by placing it exactly where the Bible places it. Not on a church calendar. Not in inherited customs. But in the written Word of God.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of the gospel. Yet Scripture never commands a yearly resurrection holiday. Scripture never institutes Good Friday. Scripture never authorizes the church to sanctify days God did not sanctify. What Scripture does give is a precise Passover framework, a clear timeline, and an unbreakable sign. Three days and three nights.

This message carefully examines:

Scripture versus church tradition.

Passover versus Easter.

High Sabbaths versus the Good Friday narrative.

The Garden, the trials, the crucifixion, the burial, and the resurrection according to the Bible.

Why Sunday morning celebrates the discovery of the empty tomb, not the moment of resurrection.

What Christians are actually commanded to remember until Jesus Christ returns.

This study is rooted in the King James Bible and allows Scripture to interpret Scripture without emotional pressure or cultural assumptions.

MARK 7:7–9

7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

If Scripture does not command it, the church has no authority to sanctify it.

This message is not designed to offend. It is designed to be faithful. The empty tomb does not need tradition to stand. It stands on the authority of the Word of God.
