THE BLOOD OF GOD

Whose blood was shed at Calvary?

This sermon examines one of the greatest truths in all of Scripture: Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh, and the blood shed at Calvary was the blood of the eternal Son of God.

The value of the blood is determined by the Person who shed it. If Jesus Christ were merely a man, a prophet, an angel, or a created being, His death could never provide eternal redemption. But the King James Bible plainly declares that God purchased the church with His own blood.

ACTS 20:28

28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

In this message, we examine how the blood of Jesus Christ:

• Purchased the church

• Obtained eternal redemption

• Purges the conscience from dead works

• Redeems sinners to God

• Makes peace through the cross

• Washes believers from their sins

• Proves the deity of Jesus Christ

• Completely satisfies the justice of God

1 TIMOTHY 3:16

16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. Salvation is not earned by baptism, church membership, religious works, keeping commandments, or turning from sins as a work. Salvation is received by grace through faith in the shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

ROMANS 3:25

25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

The Lord Jesus Christ is the only Saviour. Believe on Him. Place your faith in His blood. Trust that His finished work is completely sufficient to save you.

1 CORINTHIANS 15:3-4

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

The blood of Jesus Christ is precious because of whose blood it is.

Preach the blood. Exalt the Saviour. Declare without apology that God purchased the church with His own blood.
