Could your Southern Baptist church be adding a requirement to the gospel that the Bible never included?

Many Southern Baptist pastors teach that a person must “repent of their sins” to be saved. But is turning from sin actually part of the gospel—or does this teaching quietly replace faith alone with human effort?

In this video, we examine the first of several ways the Southern Baptist Convention promotes what I believe is a false gospel. We compare the phrase “repent of your sins” with the clear biblical message of salvation: eternal life is received by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. Salvation is the free gift of God—not a reward for reforming your life, promising to change, or successfully turning away from sin.
